Experience the tranquility and beautiful views of the DR’s northern mountain range at the Sereno de la Montaña Ecolodge ecolodge, where nature lovers are welcome.
Explore a variety of exciting outdoor activities led by our knowledgeable guides: kayak down azure rivers, horseback ride through rolling hills to a secluded waterfall, or spend an evening camping out under the stars. Whatever excursion you choose, we will make sure you enjoy the sights, colors, birds and trees that blend together with local culture to make Sereno de la Montaña a truly special destination.
Built with traditional architecture using wood and palm thatch, Sereno de la Montaña offers visitors ten large rooms, all with private bathrooms and mountain vistas. Each room can accommodate up to nine people, making it ideal for large groups. Enjoy a complementary cocktail when you arrive at our bar & restaurant, which offers local dishes from traditional Dominican family-style cooking.
When you visit us, you’re not only getting a unique travel experience but also supporting local rural communities, efforts to improve local living conditions, and preservation of our precious natural resources.
Making a Difference:
When you visit Sereno de la Montaña, you support a project firmly dedicated to improving the quality of life in the surrounding community and the protection and conservation of the area’s natural resources.
We are representatives of the Jamao River Basin Agroforestry project, whose main objective is to protect the Jamao watershed. We have supported this process since its inception in 1991. Impacts of our initiatives to date include: large farm owners planted the agroforestry systems implemented in the project; there was recovery of streams, springs, and rivers, and year-round flow has been observed; during the rainy season, the rivers and streams maintain the streets with clean water, a result of the forest that covers the surrounding environment and reduces runoff and erosion; significant increase in native birdlife such as barrancoli, perdi, Julian chivi, guinea Silvestre, and others; the maintenance of aquatic species such as the guabina, dajao, mullet fish, crab and shrimp.
Within the community, 80% of the people that work on the project are local community members. In addition, Sereno de la Montaña helps to train the local youth “Nature Lovers” guide association and supports an English language course for the elementary school children in the nearby community “Los Bueyes.”
