The Bocas Sustainable Tourism Alliance (BSTA) is a Destination Management Organization composed of Bocas del Toro's many tourism-based enterprises.
The BSTA supports sustainable tourism development in the area and promotes responsible travel by providing resources and incentives for travelers to understand and preserve the local culture and environment. Created in response to the tremendous pressure unplanned tourism development placed on Bocas Del Toro's natural resources, the BSTA aims to preserve the cultural and ecological landscape of the unique archipelago, while maintaining tourism growth as a vital component of the region's economy. Members of the alliance benefit from local and global marketing efforts including publicity on the Discover Bocas del Toro website and at the Visitor Information center in Bocas Town, market linkages with local and international tour operators, access to resources and market research, and the special distinction as a tourism service that supports sustainable initiatives in Bocas del Toro.
